Alternative Energy

Ground/Air Source Heat Pumps

Ground/Air source heat pumps have a high coefficient of performance (CoP), for every 1kW of input energy, a well designed system will provide between 3kW to 4kW of useful heat output (a CoP of 3 or 4 to 1). The carbon produced by the heat pump will also be significantly less than for an equivalent gas or oil fired boiler.

A range of ground/air source heat pumps are available to suit most circumstances for both heating only, or heating and hot water services. However, before considering installing a heat pump, all basic insulation measures (ie cavity wall and/ or loft insulation) should be applied to your home to reduce the fabric heat loss.

Solar Thermal Systems

Solar thermal hot water systems convert energy from the sun into useful hot water and can typically provide up to 50% of your annual hot water usage need.

A range of systems are available to suit most home types, including applications for homes with swimming pools. There are two basic types of system, evacuated tube and flat plate, to suit various circumstances.

Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) Systems

Solar PV systems convert sunlight into electricity for use in your home and potentially for export to the grid network, vai an inverter unit.

A range of technologies are available with varying economic and performance attributes.

Energy Performance Certificates

Energy Performance Certificates Although Home Information Packs have now been withdrawn by the government, Energy Performance Certificates are still required for all properties being marketed for sale. Installing cavity wall insulation and ensuring you have current recommended levels of loft insulation will greatly improve the energy rating of your home and thus much improve its saleability.
