Cavity Insulation - Free cavity wall insulation for over 70's
If you are over 70 and to reduce carbon emissions by 2011 the government has embarked on insulating houses across the country for people over 70. The Government is obliged to spend £1billion over the next three years to install home based energy efficiency measures for people on low incomes, those with disabilities and the over 70's.
So if you're over 70 living in a rented or owned dwelling in England or Wales you are possibly entitled to free cavity and/or loft insulation.
Currently there are approximately nine million homes without insulation in their cavity walls and, in England alone, around 40 per cent of homes have either no loft insulation, or less than 100 mm of heat-retaining material in place.
By taking up the offer to have your property insulated it is estimated you will save approximately £90 - £150 on heating costs per year.

Although Home Information Packs have now been withdrawn by the government, Energy Performance Certificates are still required for all properties being marketed for sale. Installing cavity wall insulation and ensuring you have current recommended levels of loft insulation will greatly improve the energy rating of your home and thus much improve its saleability.
